Ironroot Bastion is the game we recommend when someone says tower defence has gotten stale. Instead of just dropping towers on fixed spots, you dig trenches and raise walls that redirect the enemy path, so half the battle is designing the maze before the wave arrives.
The upgrade tree is generous but forces real choices. You can't have every tower maxed, so a run through the campaign feels distinct depending on whether you lean into splash damage or slow-and-snipe. Boss waves are genuinely tense; a couple of the later maps took us three or four attempts.
It asks for patience, and the tutorial is a bit long, but once it clicks this is a top-shelf mobile strategy game.
