Maze Building 101 for Tower Defence Beginners
If your towers keep getting overrun, the problem is usually not your towers — it's your layout. In any tower defence with a buildable path, the shape you force enemies to walk is your most powerful weapon.
The core idea is simple: the longer the path, the longer your towers can shoot. A tight S-curve or a spiral keeps enemies inside your firing range far longer than a straight line, and that alone can carry a map without a single upgrade.
Place your slow and stun towers at the entrance of a curve, not the middle. Enemies clumped at a corner take stacked damage, and slowing them early stretches the whole route. Save your high single-target damage for the exit, where survivors funnel through.
Leave one flexible slot open. Waves change, and having a spare tile lets you plug a gap without tearing down half your maze in a panic. We learned that the hard way on Ironroot Bastion's later maps.
Once the maze thinking clicks, most tower defence games open right up.
